Watchers and Holy Ones

I saw in the visions of my head upon my bed, and, behold, a watcher and an holy one came down from heaven" Daniel 4:13

This matter is by the decree (divide, separate, cut down, destroy) of the watchers, and the demand (request, inquire) by the word (to say, speak, think) of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men." Daniel 4:17

As I was reading through Daniel several weeks ago, these particular verses stayed with me. Holy Spirit had been giving me the number 413 for about a year. As I began to meditate on it, He began to give me revelation according to other scriptures I had been given over the last year.

If the decision is made by the decree of the watchers and the sentence by the word of the holy ones then we need to understand who the watchers and holy ones are and what their function is. Both words, watcher and holy one, describe not only a person, a saint, but also angels.

Watcher = wakeful one, angel, awaken, rouse ones self, to be laid bare, fully exposed Holy One = consecrate, separate, angel, saints, set apart

A Watcher and a Holy One are those who have gone through intense fire and purification to be wholly transparent. Jesus said that the devil had found nothing in Him, this is the goal of the Watchers and Holy Ones, to be totally laid bare and fully exposed, nothing hidden that the enemy can use. They have paid the price and are paying the price to be overcomers. They can stand in the court of heaven, hear the righteous judgment of the Lord, decree a thing and see it happen. This is because their heart has been tested, every motive examined and made pure. They have overcome the hindrances that would keep them from being fully awake, there is no condemnation or guilt that the enemy can use against them to silence the decree. They understand the power of their words and weigh carefully what they say and even what they think. They have been tested and tried and have overcome the lusts of the flesh. They know their place is to abide in Him and they know that place within where He dwells.

Both have divine access to stand with the angels in the court of heaven and to decree and declare in the earth what has been ordained in heaven.

Watchers, likened to prophets, decree the decision, Holy Ones, likened to intercessors or priests beseech the Lord, inquire of Him, cry out in the courts of heaven relentlessly for divine justice. They are militant in their passion for divine justice and will not settle for anything less that true righteous justice from heaven. They are keenly aware of their ability to decree a thing and it will be done (Job 22:28) so they weigh every word and every thought carefully (in 4:17 "word" there means "spoken" as well as "thought").

Like the priest in Ex. 28:15, they wear the breastplate of judgment (NKJV) (containing the stones of the tribes of Israel) over their heart and guard it knowing it is the Lord’s passion as it represents His people. They make sure they don’t allow anything in their heart that would defile their judgment and ability to see clearly without bias.

Watchers and Holy Ones, through prayer and their abiding union with the Lord, become the embodiment of His word – they become His instrument; Isa. 41:15, 54:16, Ps. 7:13 – they become His arm; Isa. 51:9 – they become His weapon; Jer. 51:20-23.

Take Moses and Aaron for example, when they stood before Pharaoh, they took what had been ordained in heaven and began to declare it in the earth. They were not daunted by what they saw i.e Pharaoh’s hardened heart or the magicians duplicating some of what they were doing. They knew, from being in the presence of the Lord and knowing His voice, what He wanted them to do and they did it verbally and physically. They became His mouthpiece and His arm.

Although Moses and Aaron were physically there to decree, that is not always the case. Take Jeremiah for example. In Jer. 3:12, the Lord said "…proclaim these words towards the North". It’s not our physical presence as much as the spoken word that is living and active. Watchers and Holy Ones move, in the spirit, back and forth between heaven and earth. They access heaven’s court and then speak what has been ordained there. They link up with angels to see His will and purpose carried out. I have been taken, on several occasions, over different countries to declare the word of the Lord and decree His righteous justice. Did I get on a plane and go there physically? No. I was transported by the Spirit of the Lord in prayer. I was told what to speak and I spoke it.

Let me just say that the refining process to walk in this area is long and painful and it is ongoing. That is a high price to pay but it is so worth it. Let me encourage you out of the word regarding the refining process.

In Ex. 9:8, the Lord told Moses (Watcher) and Aaron (Holy One) both to take handfuls of ashes from a furnace and let Moses scatter it toward heaven. It became the source of the sixth plague or judgment. That judgment was created from the ashes produced in the furnace of affliction, our affliction, from testing; Isa. 48:10 "Behold, I have refined you but not as silver, I have tested you in the furnace of affliction". Our loving Father wastes nothing! You need to know that all that is being burned up in you right now will one day be used to judge the enemy of your soul and promote you to a higher place in the heavenly realm. When you can look at those ashes and have no regret or remorse, no anger or bitterness, no pain or rejection, then and only then will you scoop them up and in His authority use it to destroy your enemy. Then and only then will you be able to be His mouth piece to decree and declare with nothing there to bring condemnation on you that would cause you to waver in who you are in Him and who He is in you and what you are called to do.
