As the final season of the Bride approaches on the earth, those forerunners with the Elijah and John the Baptist anointing will begin to combat witchcraft (Jezebel/Herodias) as never before. The battle of witchcraft must be won by humility, blessing of accusers, and holding no offense in the midst of the battle. However, one of the signs you are battling witchcraft is physical weakness or fatigue (1Kings 19:5), confusion and loss of vision (1 Kings 19:3-4).

Several years ago, for a period of about 18 months, I literally had witches come to my home and curse it. I would be in my home doing those everyday things like laundry and dinner and the Lord would suddenly speak in my heart and say, "Go look out the window, witches are cursing your home." I would think that was strange, but I was certainly curious by then, and I would look and there at the curb to my yard would be a strange person, usually a woman. I would watch and she would just stand there facing my house. Sometimes it was the same woman, sometimes it was some other woman. One time a young woman and man drove up in my driveway and I ran out the door to ask them who they were and they took off in their car down the street as soon as I opened my door. I would notice this every three to four months for about a year and a half. I only told a few close friends about it because it was so strange and I had no proof, until the curses began to bring a severe trial to my life. The only way those curses could penetrate my armor was in areas where my armor was open and I didn’t know it. Curses (whether from witches or wounded Christians that slander and gossip) are like locusts that leave the mouth and the only thing they can attach to is a mountain (proud sinful place), or a valley (a low wounded place). This is why the spirit of witchcraft seeks to destroy those with the Elijah calling, because that is just what Elijah and John the Baptist were and are called to do. Take down the mountains and raise up the valleys in a human heart so they can experience revival. If the forerunners do their job, the witches and gossipers are out of business! (And hopefully getting saved and delivered!)

God told Israel that he purposely left some of the enemy in the land to test His people (Judges 2:21-23). The Lord will use this battle between His forerunners and the spirit of Jezebel to purify and purge them, so they don’t have to run from the atmospheres affected by witchcraft, but rather can stand in the face of the wickedness of this spirit and like Jesus, the curses can find no place in them because they have chosen to be purified by His white hot fire of Holiness.

As the purified, made ready members of the Bride confront witchcraft, I believe the Lord will begin to release them under a covering of the "Key of David’. The ‘Key of David’ is referred to in Revelation 3 as Jesus is talking to the church of Philadelphia.. The word "Philadelphia’ actually means ‘brotherly love’, and this is truly the way to overcome this spirit of witchcraft. Jesus tells this church (those who can walk in His love for others even when assaulted by witchcraft through them), that it is He who holds the key of David and what he opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open.

If you have ever battled witchcraft you know as you are learning to overcome it properly, there can be such a sense of confusion, you really wonder what God is telling you in the midst of it all. I believe His ‘Key of David’ is a protection for those in this battle. It is His promise that our steps are ordered by the Lord, and we can trust the open and shut doors that He places before as a means of His direction. Now some will take that to the extreme and say, "Oh whatever I want to do I can just do it.’ This is not a license to rebel or ignore what God wants to deliver you from in the midst of the battle. But those whose purpose is to be Holy consecrated and purged with His white hot fire can rest assured, as the Lord uses the enemy in the land to test us and we stay true to Him and His purposes, He will release us underneath the "Key of David’ covering.
